DVI for Radiographers (Melbourne - Sept 2019)
The ANZ branch of the International Association of Forensic Radiographers (IAFR) delivered a successful ‘Disaster Victim Identification’ (DVI) workshop for Radiographers in Melbourne. 19 radiographers, including five IAFR members, from across Australia and New Zealand, attended the 2-day workshop. Day 1 was hosted by the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM) and included presentations from a forensic pathologist, mortuary manager, the Coroner, the Australian Federal Police and forensic radiographers. We were also fortunate to walk through the VIFM mortuary to better understand the workflow.

SAHMRI PIRL Visit - ASMIRT 2019
In March, we held a site visit to SAHMRI's Preclinical Imaging and Resarch Laboratory (PIRL) in Adelaide as part of the 2019 ASMIRT conference. SAHMRI is a dedicated preclinical research facility for large animal models of human disease research incorporating MRI & CT. The facility provides a unique opportunity for postmortem imaging to assist forensic investigations. Participants were able to view the facilities CT and MRI scanners and were given a presentation on Post Mortem imaging in the coronial setting from forensic pathologist Dr Neil Langlois.

The International Society of Forensic Radiology held their 8th annual congress in Berlin, Germany in May 2019, led by chair Dr. Lars Oesterhelweg (Deputy Director, Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, Berlin, Germany).
