What is forensic radiography?

Forensic radiography is the application of the science of diagnostic imaging to questions of law.

What is the International Association of Forensic Radiographers?

IAFR is an association of professionals involved in, or with an interest in, the provision of medical imaging in support of forensic investigations.

We aim to promote best practice in forensic radiography through education and training, practical exercises, research, communication and the coordination of forensic radiography projects, both within the UK and internationally.

Who can join the IAFR?

Full membership of the Association will be open to any registered Radiographer, Radiologic Technologist, Imaging Technician, Assistant Radiographic Practitioner or Radiologist with an interest in forensic medical imaging.

Associate membership of the Association will be open to anyone with a professional interest in medical imaging including students. We have associate members who are pathologists, anthropologists, odontologists, crime scene examiners and investigators.

We are an international organisation and currently have members in the UK, Repulic of Ireland, Netherlands, USA, Canada, South Africa, Iraq, Australia and Argentina. National branches of the IAFR exist in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, and discussions are underway to form a branch in the USA.
